Vision Boards Work

Q: What is a Vision Board?

A: A Vision Board is a collage of images, pictures and affirmations of your dreams and desires. It can also be called a dream board, treasure map or vision map.

Vision boards are a great way to make you feel positive, and are helpful if you are using the Law of Attraction.

Do YOU create Vision Boards? Do you know anyone who does? I have a number of people in my life who do and they inspired me to do it too. It was late November 2009 when a colleague ran a Prepare for 2010 workshop. At the time I enrolled I really didn’t know what it was, but I was attracted to it and respected my colleague. So, I turned up on a Sunday morning, met my fellow participants, enjoyed the homemade morning tea, and then we began in earnest. Firstly, we mediated to get clear, then we wrote about where we had been, where we were now and where we wanted to go. After a delicious lunch our facilitator produced a pile of magazines, scissors, glue, and poster cardboard, as we were about to make Vision Boards…

My Vision Board was on pink poster cardboard with lots of pictures of a healthy slim woman skiing and snowboarding; travelling the world; living in a home with a pool; connecting to friends and family; and a picture of a bride, a diamond ring and the words Prince Charming. As a divorcee in my early 40’s I wanted to have another relationship in my life. I didn’t like being single… I was lonely even though I had friends. I wanted a special friend.

Eventually we completed our Vision Boards, shared them with each other, had a lovely homemade afternoon tea and departed full of hope for the coming year. Here is mine:

I put my Vision Board on my office wall so I could see it each day,yet I didn’t focus on it too much, I simply noticed it and reaffirmed what I wanted to manifest. I did know not to worry about the HOW… that is HOW am I going to attract all this? I knew to focus on the emotions and feelings my Vision Board would bring.

Today my Vision Board has come true (like a number of my colleagues and friends who have created their own VB’s). I actually own the exact same pair of snowboarding boots in the picture middle top (I didn’t realise this when I purchased them online). I am engaged to the lovely Don MacInnes; and only last week I went skiing at Falls Creek with Don and the boys (as per the picture of the family skiing); our new home is completed (top left and is bottom right) and I’m super fit, slim and often have pink nails! Last summer I went camping by a river in the beautiful Australian bush (bottom left) and in July I was on Gili Air, a tropical island in Indonesia (top right). I’m still to visit Dubai and see the Palm Island (far right) but suspect I will do so as part of my Big Hairy Audacious Goal… to see the world as a sphere.

As a scientist I have thought that some of this ‘new age’ stuff is a bit out there… yet these days I believe more and more thanks to the latest research in NeuroScience and fMRI’s.This approach works. Yes, a physics and mathematics graduate said that! Vision Boards work.
